'To live in Shakchmatovo and to die on the stage...'

   The lines from the questionnaire list ‘Recognition’, filled in by Block in 1897 defined the name of the exposition. It continues the exposition of the former local school, and gives more information on the subject ‘Block and a theater’. It tell the visitors about the early experience of the young Block as an actor playing in Shakchmatovo and Boblovo and his dramaturgy.
    The exposition combines several sections:

 

‘the hosts and the guests of the estate’, “A room in the village’, ‘Tea party under the lime trees’, ‘’Passion to theater’, ‘I want ... to stage a play’. The exposition has a lot of authentic items: book shelves, the items of women’s handwork, books and stationary, the cutlery. Besides it has the pictures of the owners and the guests of the estate, the pictures of Shakchmatovo and its surroundings, the scenes from amateur plays with participation of A.Block.

    The exposition was created in the genre of a ‘museum session’. Alongside the traditional means of the exposition design, various technical means are also used. The museum session is accompanied by phonogram composed of

  

poems and letters of Block, the remembering of his contemporaries and music of Michael Kuzmin to the Block’s drama ‘Carrousel’. The excursion can be optionally accompanied by a guide.
