Tarakanovo

The village of Tarakanovo, which was called so by the name of its owner, captain I.V.Tarakanov (in the old papers it was called Vysokoye), had been known since the 18 century. The name Vysokoye (High) can be explained by rather high lie of the ground, rich in

hills. By the end of the 18 century the village became famous due to the annual fairs carried out over there. In November a lot merchants and Philistines used to come to the village from the town of Klin and the local villages.

There was a mill on the bank of the river Lugosnya, where not only the local landowners could grid their grain, but also peasants from other places.
The owners of the Tarakanovo estate had been rich: they built a church which was sanctified in 1777 and was given the name of Michael Archangel. The church had two wings - of Joann Bogoslov and Nikolai Thaumaturge. The church was widely open for both its congregation and the peasants from other

villages.
Since the middle of the 17 century the well cared estate became to deteriorate.
In 1898 a local school had been built in the village with support of Moscow and Klin administrations. By 1911 there were 66 boys and girls in the school. By the 80-s of the 20 century in the former county school there was opened the ever first exposition devoted to Alexander Block.
